POWERHOUSE!!! America’s Dance (Arts Education Performance Program)
Brian is in charge of every aspect (producing, writing, directing, casting, performing, marketing, etc.…) of this curriculum based show that performs in schools throughout the west coast. POWERHOUSE!!! explores the musicality of percussive dance (making music with one’s hands and feet) and the cultural evolution and significance of this style of dance as one of America’s most identifiable and unique folk dances.
Workshop/Residency Program
As a teaching artist in schools Brian is in charge of creating a curriculum based program (1-12 weeks) that not only covers the obvious subject of music and dance, but also has cross connections with math, geography, language arts and science for 300-600 students per week.
Written and approved lesson plans are prepared for the classroom teacher. Visual aids are provided for students. In addition to academics, responsibilities also include class room guidance and motivation for creativity, behavior, and teamwork. Upon completion of lessons a culmination performance of materials learned may be presented by students.
He is additionally responsible to hire and train other dancers to work in schools, following his lesson plans.
TV/Film
Freeform TV’s GOOD TROUBLE (CHOREOGRAPHER) 2020-2021
Brian worked with the production company to work through Covid-19 protocols; creating choreography for 3 episodes of this Disney produced hit television show. Responsibilities included interpreting and creating character driven choreography from the script, creating virtual rehearsal tools via YouTube for the actors, running zoom rehearsals, and on set direction during filming. Season 3, episodes 4, 9, and 10. CREDITED.
Other choreographed (but not credited) TV episodes include Justified! (FX), Culture Click (ABC), Barnyard (animated/PARAMOUNT)
Variety talent appearances include AGT, The Gong Show (winner), 5 seasons on classic TV’s HEE HAW and many more.
POWERHOUSE!!! Percussive Dance 2002-2023
Brian is in charge of every aspect of this long running percussive dance touring show. This non-curriculum version of the show has performed for the past 18 years for audiences large and small across the country including over countless major fairs, corporate & community events, the Special Olympics, and festivals such as Stagecoach Festival. The show is also running at Downtown Disney.
Bon Family & CA All-Star Cloggers 1995-2023
For 30 plus years Brian has been the Director of his own private studio program, The Bon Family & CA All-Star Cloggers, teaching over 40,000 people to dance in that time. While technique based training is provided, professional performance skills, stage presence and character building are the focus. His students have won nationally televised TV shows such as America’s Most Talented Kids and gone as far as top 20 on America’s Got Talent. Part of this program includes a class for students with Down syndrome and other special needs.
